Heat won’t be an issue on any of the M1 macs, not unless you use it as a dedicated video rendering machine, 24/7 in a very hot climate. But if you keep your old Mac, you can play it on the M1 via screen sharing. (Catalina, Big Sur and Monterey simple can’t). O computer with an OS later than Mojave will play it.
